I just saw note about cold. You are going to hate Pittsburgh and CMU. Unless you are open to snow it is not place for you.
I just looked at stats about 40 snowing days with average 40" per winter. Are you still interested?
What about Rice as a reach? Itās definitely not in a cold region compared to Pittsburgh and rarely but does offer merit.
Show your parents the āmajor rankingsā and the cost differential.
Many schools punch well above their overall weight in certain majors. This is one such major.
I donāt suspect youāll find career outcomes that different from high ranked to low ranked in this major. Some differentiation from a few schools but not much overall and not worth, imho, $200k+ in extra tuition.
Rice does have an operations research major, iāll check it out, thanks!
honestly, it has me rethinking choosing to ed there, iāll probably talk to my parents.
If your only reason to ED is - itās prestigious - that is NOT a reason to ED.
What is your reason for not wanting a LAC? If its size, then as wonderful as Rice is, you may not like it.
I was mainly referring to schools like Williams / bowdoin, like 2k pop students because having some sort of minority community is relatively important to me.
Gatech is a Match not a Reach, and I agree with other posters woth adding Rice or Cornell.
Cornell is a great school, but not for a kid who wrote this.
