Would appreciate any other suggestions to this college list as well. I realize I have many reaches and not many targets/safeties.

Actually you could argue that you have too many safeties etc.

As long as you have one, but preferably two, you can do whatever you want with the remaining schools.

Are there any cost issues/concerns ?

What do you seek in a school? I’d want to know more b4 even thinking to suggest a school.

Oregon State has a well-regarded program in CS., You should be a strong candidate for their honors college, and you may qualify for tuition exchange, where you could pay closer to an in-state rate or receive some good merit.

Congratulations on being a very competitive applicant. Cal Poly SLO is a Reach with around a 9% admit rate for CS and around a 15 % admit rate for Bioengineering but Reachable.

UC Davis is a target. UC Santa Cruz would be a good Likely.

College Budget?

Best of Luck

Agreed. It’s easy to assume Cal Poly is a match, or even a safety if you don’t know the details of how the do admissions. They admit by major. CS and BME are among their most competitive.

I also agree with OSU. It’s a pretty campus, close enough to Portland and the coast to day trip. The weather is similar to Seattle.

Good luck!

Are you a senior or a junior? What are your AP scores so far? Your ACT math is a little low for your reaches, given that you want BME/CS, so I am curious what your AP math and science scores show. Also, does your school offer APPhysics C? Some of your reaches strongly prefer you take it if it is available, for Engineering applicants, so if you are a junior, you should try to fit it in next year.

I am a junior this year

Do these colleges look at superscores? I read somewhere that most do. Planning to take the ACT once more anyways.

My school doesn’t offer AP Physics C, do you think I should take it online?

I am taking AP Calc this year, so I don’t have scores for that yet. Got a 3 in AP Chemistry, 4 in AP CSA and 5 in AP CSP.

You need to look at each school. If you’re a serious student you will learn and know whether they superscore. Or even consider a score.

No to physics C.

The Cal states and UC’s are test blind so your ACT scores will not be considered for admission purposes.

Cal Poly SLO like all the other CSU’s consider your EC’s but unlike the UC’s, you do not list the EC’s/Awards etc… but only enter hours involved and if you had any leadership positions.

Cal Poly SLO also uses 9-11th grades with an 8 semester Honors point cap for AP/IB or DE courses taken 10-11th grades so you need to wait until end of Junior to determine your GPA. They evaluate your HS course rigor which includes Senior year courses and they recommend taking the a-g course requirements beyond the minimum listed. https://www.calpoly.edu/admissions/first-year-student/selection-criteria/high-school-course-requirements

The UC’s will consider your EC’s along with GPA (10-11th grades for a-g course requirements), HS course rigor, Personal Insight essays and other criteria listed on this link:

Application review criteria: How applications are reviewed | UC Admissions

For both CSU’s and UC’s, make sure you have a year of a Visual/Performing arts course which is a requirement many OOS applicants are not aware.

No do not take it online. Just do well in APphys 1&2 and Calculus. No college will hold it against you when your school does not offer something. And yes, take the ACT again, and/or maybe try the SAT. Keep your grades up as high as possible and reassess where you stand next summer before you finalize your list. Applying ED to one of your reaches will likely really help your chances.
