Match suggestions

I’ve already gotten into my safeties, but it would be nice to look at other schools, too.

I’m hoping to go into engineering of some kind, but I’d still like a school that either gives you a lot of time to choose a major or lets you switch easily. For location, I prefer schools either in the Midwest or East Coast in an urban or suburban area. Also, I want to avoid schools with extremely skewed gender ratios.

According to my parents, finances shouldn’t be a concern, but merit scholarships would be great.

Suggestions?

GPA: 3.95 UW. School doesn’t officially rank, but I’m in the top 3%.
Tests: 2330 SAT, 36 ACT, 800 Math 2, 760 Bio M
APs: Have taken 4 tests (all 5s). Taking 4 right now.
Awards: school-level stuff, National Merit semifinalist, math contest stuff (nothing amazing), AP scholar something
ECs: umm.

  • Marching band all 4 years, section leader 11-12 (300+ hours per year)
  • Concert and pep band all 4 years
  • Mu Alpha Theta, science honor society, NHS (lol I don’t do anything for these)
  • Math contests. Made it to the state level in some of them. I think I’m the most involved person in my school.
    Other:
  • Governor’s school
  • Volunteering at ethnic community center (~150 hours)

Ethnicity: Chinese
Gender: Female
Income: >200k (no need-based aid)

Thank you!

GTech?

Try the supermatch function (on CC under Find A College). Seems like you would be competitive for most schools.

@“Erin’s Dad” GaTech a great school! I just have some reservations because it’s farther from home than I’m comfortable with. Do you know how the scholarship situation is for OOS students? It seems like it would be really competitive.

@happy1 Taking a look now. Thank you!

purdue

Northeastern? I’m not sure if that counts as a match or safety

Based on this years decision threads here on CC, if Northeastern gets the impression that you are using them as a safety, you could be denied or offered NUIn admission.

GTech does have fairly high cuts for scholarships but you have the stats.

My D’s friend got a very nice scholarship to GTech as an OOS student.
