Hi I'm looking for some safety schools. I tried using super match but it wasn't much help. I'm a NY res so I already know about the SUNYs but other wise I would be looking for schools in the North East of Mid West. Perhaps with a campus similar to CMU (near a urban campus but not a city school). I am interested in Engineering, Mathematics and Physics Just list some schools I'll go through them on my own and see if I can't pick out some that I might apply to.

Commendation from the BoE for having above a certain GPA(idk what we might have also needed someone to recommend us) on the xc team which was a NYS scholar athlete team.
That's all thanks again.

How much can your family afford?

Oh sorry I forgot to put that in. I think i’m close to full paying but I am still looking to save money. After all if I go to grad school I don’t want to take on debt.

@"Erin’s Dad"

University of Delaware
Temple
Rutgers
Pitt

Drexel

University of Miami? Tulane isn’t a true safety, but I think your chances of admission are excellent, and you might get some merit aid (that’s less likely, though). Case Western?

RIT, RPI, Michigan Tech, Michigan State.

@woogzmama Has U of Miami moved north?

UMass Amherst, UMass Lowell
Pitt (check out OOS costs)
Penn State (according to the bubble chart, if you apply before Dec1, you’re basically a lock BUT check out OOS costs, which are very high)
Rowan (engineering only), TCNJ (math, science) - check out OOS costs
UScranton
Lafayette (more of a match)
Dickinson (more of a match)

@Erin’s Dad - D’oh! I missed the “Northern” stipulation. Scratch Miami and Tulane.

what matters here is that your M+CR is much higher than your reported 2150. You have a 1510, very good!

Apply early to Pitt to improve merit chances… but your GPA may be a hindrence

UDayton would give you money, but dont know if that will be enough for it to be a safety.

You say that you are “full pay”…are your parents aware of that? Will they full pay for a safety? If not, how much will they pay for a safety? Have you had the money talk with your parents??

@woogzmama I thought it might have been a slip of the fingers and you meant Miami U instead.

Ohio State University. About 5 miles north of downtown Columbus, Ohio. OSU gives good OOS scholarships. In fact, Ohio residents claim that OOS students get much better scholarships.

@mom2collegekids yes I have had the money talk with my parents. My grandfather saved up quite a bit of money as he wanted his kids and grand kids to get a good education.

Dickinson was mentioned above. You can’t study engineering there. Case Western is a low match for you (possibly safety, they may not care much about your writing score, and you are in the top 25% for your M & CR).

Villanova has non binding EA so I think you can hear back by December with no commitment on your part to attend, RIT, WPI, Manhattan College or Stevens Institute should be safety schools for you and they are good in engineering, and I’d consider applying to SUNY Binghamton and SUNY Stony Brook.

I recommend Colgate, Syracuse, RIT, RPI. What is your ideal school size?

@Collegegopro I’m open to most school sizes. I would like the school to be some what near to an urban area though.

Not so sure that Colgate is a safety for you. And it’s not somewhat near an urban area. Syracuse is in an urban area would be a safety though.
