Matching a Merit Aid Offer (NYU/Boston College)

Hello,

I got a 20,000 dollar scholarship from Boston University. Would it be worth asking schools like NYU or Boston College to match that offer?

PS: None of the schools gave me any need-based aid because I guess I don’t qualify but I’m not willing to pay the 70k NYU and Boston College are asking for.

@Taha98 I don’t know about BC but NYU will not consider other offers and will not negotiate. BU is a great choice!

BU is nearly $70,000 too. Can you pay for BU?

I seriously doubt that NYU or BC are going to increase your aid…based on the BU offer.

NYU doesn’t negotiate…and BC does NOT consider BU to be a peer school.

I don’t believe BC gives merit money. You may want to research that

With the exception of the Presidential Scholar program, which is merit all other aid is need based.

It does not matter that BU gave you 20k in merit $$

@sybbie719 Boston College’s website clearly states that the Presidential Scholarship is their only academic merit award. It states that as a matter of policy, it offers very limited merit aid, so it will not match another merit aid offer.
