material science and engineering cmu or ucla

Hello. I recently got admitted by carnegie mellon university and ucla. For carnegie mellon, I can choose to enroll into the CIT and choose material science program. For ucla, I got admitted to their engineering school with material science as my major.

So, my question is, what are your opinions on these two schools for my engineering major? All data are helpful.

For me, UCLA seems better for me right now because the science departments there aren't that bad. And since engineering has strong ties with physical sciences, I thought it's important for me to go to a school with good science departments as well because I am going to be taking courses from the science departments.

Thank you in advance for all your help.

You’ll probably wind up taking freshman physics 1 & 2 (with all the other engineering majors), maybe a quantum class, a chemistry class, and maybe a bio class. These will all be large lecture classes where, really, the strengths of the department doesn’t matter a whole lot. The real difference will be in your engineering classes.

I was a MSE major at CMU with a minor in physics, and I absolutely loved it.

I have the same dilemma but it’s about an Econ major… http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1324497-ucla-carnegie-mellon.html#post14222593?</a>! :|
