Materials from Columbia After Enrollment

What materials have Columbia 2013 students gotten in the mail after enrollment?

I'm a US citizen living abroad and I remember reading about people getting some packets or something... (i haven't gotten anything from Columbia via the mail after enrollment so wondering if there's stuff i'm missing that i should ask for)

A package from student advising, detailing the core and graduation requirements. Also includes a yellow sheet that the counselor needs to mail with the final transcript and a page about summer advising sessions. I think that’s about it.

Thanks!

Any materials on course selection, etc.?

The booklet does not mention the specifics of choosing courses, but it covers different course requirements (e.g. core courses, requirements for graduation, premed prerequisites).

^Yeah, the mail-in wasn’t much actually. Just a brief on information most of us already know.

correct, most of the info you can find on the internet (the electronic version of the Bulletin)

I the lack of meaningful contact strange. Who doesn’t love getting something everyother day from a school you love? (other than trees) Maybe I’m too much of a romantic.

I actually agree with you there. The flow of mail (and email) seems to have stopped after they received our confirmation of attendance.

haha. yeah! It does suck…
I check my mail eagerly everyday only to be disappointed.

My high school sent a final transcript at the end of May for literally every student in the school that was going to college. Do I have to go to my school and request that they send another?

Nope 10char

I still haven’t received any packets in the mail about student advising, graduation requirements, and such. I live in GA. Is that bad?

maybe give them a call?

but honestly, the mail package wasn’t much. most of the stuff you’d know

Yeah, I kind of find the lack of communication a little bit depressing as well. Maybe Columbia’s bureaucracy was a little bit thicker than we thought.

You will be receiving all the information you need in well enough time. Most of what is being discussed here will be covered during Freshman Orientation. A lot was covered during the summer advisement sessions that are now being held.

As a parent who is paying a good portion of my child’s education, I would prefer the college save admin costs by not “showing the love” every other day.

Chill out, enjoy your summer, and good luck in the fall.

thanks! i got the package today.
