Math 16A, Rhetoric R1A

Ive signed up for Math 16A with B Poonen. Anyone have any feedback on this instructor? I'm a little nervous about this class. I took AP Calc in HS, but I sleepwalked through the whole year (got a 1 on the AP test to back it up). Obviously, I regret this, but there's nothing I can do about it. I know how to do basic derivatives and integrals, so hopefully I'll recognize some stuff.

To fullfil R1A, Ive signed up for Rhetoric R1A with Rogers. I can't find anything about this professor on rate my professor however. What exactly can I expect from this course? I want to learn how to write at a college level, but then again, I am concerned about getting a good GPA (Haas/Econ intended after all).

About R1A, the best indication of what you can expect is the course description (usually written by the instructor). It is likely that the person is a graduate student, as they commonly teach R1A and R1B classes. They rarely teach other classes besides these.

Ah, thank you. Can I expect a Grad student to be more lax when it comes to grading?

You can't really predict that with any meaningful accuracy. You'll be fine if you try.
