Math 54 and E7 over summer? Chem or ChemE major

I'm a freshmen Chemistry major in L&S hoping to transfer to College of Chemistry as either Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. Last semester I took Chemistry 4A, Math 53, and an English class, plus one decal. This semester I'm taking Chemistry 4B, Physics 7A, and two humanities, one of which required an audition to get in and the other being an AC course. I wanted to take Math 54 but due to a bad Telebears appointment, was not able to even put myself on the waitlist...

I was wondering if anyone took the challenge of taking Math 54 and E7 over the summer. I want to finish both classes by the time I start sophomore year as I heard the sophomore schedule for Chem/ChemE majors is very structured and demanding. I don't want to fall off track with the path, which is why I'd like to get these classes out of the way. I was also thinking about finding a part-time job in Berkeley over the summer, along with the classes mentioned above.

Please gimme your opinion on whether this is doable. I could still try adding Math 54 to my schedule, but it would require me to drop a humanities class and change my schedule around completely. I don't know if its worth the trouble changing my entire schedule around just for one class. But at the same time, I don't want to fall behind. Most of my fellow students are taking 3 or 4 technical classes while I am taking only 2 :/

Note that chemical engineering has better job and career prospects than chemistry.

The freshman year is supposed to include:

Chemistry 4A, 4B
Math 1A, 1B
Physics 7A
English composition
breadth courses

Chemical Engineering 40 (chemical engineering majors)
Engineering 7 (chemical engineering majors)
Chemistry 96 (chemistry majors)

http://chemistry.berkeley.edu/student_info/undergrad_info/publications/chem_12_13.pdf

Sophomore year chemical engineering includes:

Chemistry 112A
Math 53, 54
Physics 7B
Chemical Engineering 140, 141, 150A
Biology 1A

Sophomore year chemistry includes:

Chemistry 112A, 112B
Math 53, 54
Physics 7B
foreign language, if needed
breadth or free electives
(Chemistry 104A, 104B or 120A, 120B can be taken “early”)

This means that you are “ahead” in math and possibly breadth courses, but “behind” in Engineering 7 and Chemical Engineering 40 for the chemical engineering major. You may want to check the suggested course plans in the College of Chemistry guide to see how you can put together your schedule.

If you choose chemistry, you can also major in chemistry in L&S.

The current schedule shows that there are some seats in the Math 54 MWF 3-4 lecture and discussions at TuTh 2-330, 330-5, 5-630.
