Hi everyone,

Which is a better choice, Math 54 with Teleman or Math H54 with Ming Gu? Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,

Which is a better choice, Math 54 with Teleman or Math H54 with Ming Gu? Thanks in advance.

H54 is meant for math majors and focuses on the more abstract concepts of diff eq. and linear algebra. The lessons are much more theoretical and heavily proof-based, but they don’t teach any problem-solving methods beyond regular 54.

That being said, it’s full of great preparation for serious math classes like 104 (real analysis) and 110 (linear algebra). If you’re a math major and/or plan on taking a lot ofupper division math classes, take H54. If not, take regular 54 with Teleman. He’s boring, but I’ve heard his class is pretty fair.

Thanks so much for the information. Is it doable to get an A in H54 with Ming Gu? GPA is important for graduate school application.
