Math BA vs. Math BS

So what's the difference between the two? I don't mean while in college, I mean once out of college.

Will the BS give you more opportunities since it requires a couple more courses or does it even make that much a difference?

Reason why I'm asking is that I'm debating whether or not to switch to a math major (it's my sophmore year) but I'm not sure which degree to shoot for. It would be easier, being a sophmore, to fit a BA Math into my remaining years but if the BS Math provides me with that much of an advantage, then I may just go for that and take a couple of summer courses to squeeze it into four years.

Thanks for the help.

I don't think it makes much of a difference afterwards.

nope no difference.

I thought there was only a B.S. in Math. I didn't realize there was a Math B.A.

The only difference that could affect you would be if the BS provides you a better foundation for graduate studies with the extra courses satisfying upper division major requirements which qualify you to enter grad school directly, and avoid taking extra preparatory classes.

the only difference between the programs at my school is that the BS requires 3 more courses:

Both have the same core requirements of:
Calc I
Calc II
Calc III
Foundations of Math
Linear Algebra
Analysis I
Analysis II
Abstract Algebra
and then 3 upper-level Math electives.

for a total of 11 courses.

The BS requires 3 additional courses:
Mathematical Statistics I
Complex Variables
Computer Science

if you go to an LAC, you'll get a BA
