I have problems on a few questions. i have checked the explanations on the cb site but i stil do not undersantd.
Test 4 Section 6 #15-18

How do you do number 15 and 16 and18?

I understand the concept of 17 but how would i have known to use 8 for n? why not 7 or another number?

I completed this problem by giving the sides of the triangles values.
QS = 1, QV = 3, PT = 3, PR = 4.

Area of PST = 3 Area of PQR = 6. So… 3/6 = 1/2.

Plug in 2m in the equation and move all terms to one side. You will get m^2 - 9m +
14 = 0. Factor, and you will be left with (m - 2)(m-7) = 0. m = 2 or 7.

Calculate the number of ticks per check mark and add the numbers together. So it would be 80 + 20 + 40 + 3 + 6. = 149 chimes.

-About n, it says it chimes n times on the nth hour. From 7:14-8:45 the clocks with that attribute will chime 8 times at 8 o’clock.

but then cant it chime 7 yimes on the 7th hour which would make it zero chimes?

The clock does not hit 7 o’clock (or the 7th hour) during that time interval, so no.

(sorry, forgot about that) You subtract the choices when the card is at either end from the total number of arrangements so its <<<5! - 2(4!).>>>
