Math course transferring to georgia tech

hi,

so i was offered the conditional transfer pathway for summer 2022. im currently a rising freshman at uga, and i was wondering if math 2500 at uga (3 credit hr calc 3 for engineering) will satisfy the math 2550 (2 credit hr intro to multivariable calc) requirement for engineering and cs majors. also, is it better to take math 2270, the course that is a direct transfer? below is what shows on the transfer equivalency table for both classes. any help is much appreciated.

uga gt
math 2270 (calc 3 for sci and math, 4credit hrs) → math 2551 (multivariable calc, 4 credit hrs)
math 2500 (calc 3 for eng, 3 credit hrs) → math 2X51 (transfer multivariable calc, 3 credit hrs)

I would post this question on the Georgia Tech Reddit which is populated by students. You may catch someone who’s actually transferred from uga and can give you a clear answer. Otherwise I would email the advisor for your major at Georgia Tech and ask. There are plenty of kids that transfer from uga to Georgia Tech every year so whoever you contact should have the answer off the top of their head.

DS has not had great success with the GT advisors with his questions. It has ranged from “I do not know” to just ignoring the question.

Hopefully you can find someone that has transferred and has experience instead of going the official route.

It looks like GT CS requires MATH 2550, while GT engineering requires MATH 2551, and it looks like MATH 2551 is a superset of MATH 2550.

https://math.gatech.edu/mathematics-course-equivalencies lists equivalencies between various GT math courses.

You may want to verify with the department of your intended major which courses will be accepted for the major.
