Math curve harshness

On the practice tests I've taken (not CB tests, they are my prep course's tests, which are much harder than the CB ones), one wrong in math ranges from -40 to -80. Is that true with the real CB test?

It’s harsh, but not that harsh. xP I think -1 can drop you anywhere from 0 to 40 points, depending on the difficulty of the exam. 80 is a stretch, though, in my experience.

The test would have to be pretty easy for 1 question to drop you even 40 points. In my experience 1 question drops you around 10, maybe 20 if you’re unlucky.

It depends. Above 750, -1 can mean 20-30 points. From 700-750, usually 20 points. 600-700, it’s almost always 10… rarely 20. Below 600, never more than 10.

wow? -1 can be 760? i thought -1 lowest is like 770, well most of the time its 780,
somtimes 790 =D

Here’s a “combined” math curve using recent SATs. First # is the raw score, next is the range of scores from the combined curves. Easiest test is the first score, hardest is the 2nd score.

54 800-800
53 780-800
52 750-780
51 730-760
50 710-740
49 700-730
48 680-720
47 670-710
46 660-700
45 650-690

March 2008 had a harsh curve -2= 60 off

June 2008 had -3 MC (so -4 raw points) = 730.

For my March 2008 the curve was very harsh for maths -5=680 for me

The easier the test, the harsher the curve right?
So the curve shouldn’t really matter?

It only matters if you think it matters.
