Math +engineering major?

So I have always wanted to go to med school, but now that I’ve grown up a bit, I recognize its hard to get into, and I only have a 2150sat and 4.0 wgpa so I’m not certain whether or not I have what it takes. So I am looking for a major/s in which I will be prepared for med school, or able to make $400k+ at half career point. Sounds shallow I know, but financial success and independence is very important to me. Im great at math and physics and to a lesser extent chem and biological sciences. I was wondering if i should major in math and try to become like a hedge fund guy or something??? Or maybe Math + chemical engineering or Math+biomedical engineering? I figure many classes overlap, so the double major would be to crazy. I can enjoy any of the sciences or basically all STEM things, but I really want to be a neurosurgeon. I also want to make atleast $400k at the half career point. Any help is appreciated.

This will be nearly impossible no matter what field you choose. If it’s that important, it seems like you need to go the surgeon route. The finance sector is another route but going the math or business route into that would still put your odds incredibly slim.

You’re in high school. Your stats are plenty fine for premed / med school. If that’s what you want, go for it.

Curious, what is the purpose of such a high salary? Why isn’t say 100k fine?

Idk, Ive grown up with a lifestyle of that sort of salary, and I do not know how it would be to have less. But about the major, do you think Applied mathematics+ some engineering degree would be a useful major? Tell me as much as you can.

Spend less.

Really, if $400,000 is the minimum yearly income you need to live, your career choices will be very limited, and highly competitive. On the other hand, someone who can live on $40,000 per year will have far more career choices that will provide enough income to live on.

Happiness is more about what you do than what you have. Unless the only way you’re happy is skydiving daily, you won’t need 400k. And even if you needed to skydive daily, you would probably only need 150k. I’m not saying money can’t buy you happiness: people would be lying to say it can’t. But you have to know what makes you happy first in order to buy the right things. For some, you only need 50k or so. Others do have valid reasons for needing more, which in the long run is harder on them but it is what it is. So, evaluate if you really need that much money before searching for a career based on it.
