I will be applying to CS grad schools next year and decide to take a subject test this year. Now, I am a CS major but after doing several CS and Math subject practice tests, my scores in Math are much higher than in CS. So, my question is, how do top CS grad schools think of some CS undergrad who opts Math instead of CS subject test?

I think if you look at the grad program pages they’ll address which subject scores they accept. I think many do accept math scores. Past that, it’s hard to say. One can’t reasonably infer anything (positive or negative) from someone taking math instead of cs, so I doubt anyone from admissions will.

That’s an interesting question. My daughter is in a CS grad program and was a math & CS combined major as undergrad, so might have been in same position. However, she didn’t take either subject test and was accepted to some top schools. She is interested in theory, so this area may be treated differently.

It may well relate to your areas of study and research.
