Math IIC

I just started my Barrons book for the Math SAT II (IIC) and i'm up to the conics chapter. i've taken pre-calc before but the problem is some stuff just doesn't get to me. like directrix and eccentricity? i don't know what i should study for from this section..any advice?

I picked up that book too. Hard stuff in there…only scored around 650 to 750 on the sample tests.

On the real thing in November, I scored 800 in Math 1 & Math 2.

You probably don’t need to know those topics as much. I barely saw any questions pertaining to them.

Yeah, I bought Barron’s but only used it for the practice tests. The material is way harder than the real thing. Like somekidinnyc, I was scoring in the 600-750 range in those tests and got 800 in the real thing. I recommend you buy the official CollegeBoard book to get a real feel for the tests.

So I shouldn’t base my potential score on Barrons? I took a few practice tests from a Kaplan book and I have been scoring 700-750ish… I just took a Barrons test and scored a 640! eek… I’m not sure if I should be worried. I didn’t find the material a ton harder but I found myself far more pressed for time. I ended up omitting close to 20 ha.

For the record, Math IIC no longer exists.

yeah i have the same problem. there’s only a week till SAT day and the barron’s math 2 book is stressing me out. does anyone know if we have to memorize all that stuff about hyperbolas, ellipses, etc., ambiguous case of a triangle, standard deviation, and regression?
