Math Level II: Calculator tips??

I'm taking the Math Level II test most likely in June. I'm a junior in Pre-AP Pre-Calculus and AP Statistics (the highest maths my school lets me take).

For the test, what are some calculator tips you all have? I have a TI-84 Silver Edition. I know some say to put programs into the calculator, but I'm NOT BY ANY MEANS and expert with my calculator as far as programming is concerned.

Please help me out!! With all tips, please put all instructions if possible. Thanks!

I am bumping this… No reason not to!

I only reserve calculator tips to:

Students who are really struggling or

Students who have a really firm grasp of concepts.

It is completely possible to get an 800 without a calculator.

I would just recommend using the calculator to check your work graphically.

I agree, you hardly need the calculator for anything.
I did most of my work without using the calculator, and then used the calculator to double-check my arithmetic when going back to double-check my work (so I could catch it if I did stuff like 2*3=5).
But some little things:

 • learn to graph things just in case
 • make sure your calculator is in degree, not radian, mode…
 • maybe download/write a quadratic solver :)

The Barrons review book for SAT2 Math2 has programs that you can put into your calculator to help you solve problems.

Why do you people keep telling OP she doesn’t really need a calculator. She wouldn’t be asking for tips unless she really needs to use one. So can someone just please answer this question so everyone can benefits from it if they need to.
