How is the set up of problems on the math placement exam at Yale? Does it contain problems from an ordinary first year calculus course or does it progress in difficulty into higher calculus as you get problems correct?

It’s basically 25 questions you have to answer (20 of which are actual math problems). They “progress” in difficulty, covering things from Precalc, algebra, Calc AB and a couple from Calc BC. It’s fairly easy if the subject is fresh in your mind (not my case) and you are able to take as long as you want and “cheat,” which is obviously not advisable and unwise.

Alright, thanks drbigboyjoe9505!

Do you take this test online now, or at campus during move in week?

Online now.
It’s been online for at least a month. You have to bring it with you at the beginning of college.

if you go to the freshman site you’ll find links to it.

Is there a deadline for us to complete the placement exam by?

There’s no deadline, but if you plan on registering for calculus, you’ll need to take the test, print it out, and bring the results with you to the math department registration session (the date is in the opening days calendar)

ok. Thanks :)

Math 115/118/120 is harder than virtually every high school AP Calc course in the country.
