Math Placement Exam

I received an e-mail about the MPE and how it is required in order to take math courses at UCSD. I'm freaking out because I've never taken Calculus or Precalc in my entire life so I have absolutely no knowledge on those subjects at all. I only took basic Algebra (1 and 2) classes at my CC and then went to Statistics to fulfill the IGETC (Psych major). In the e-mail it just said to do the Calculus Readiness Exam and didn't mention the Precalc one at all...Am I screwed because I didn't take any Calc classes at my CC?

Should I take the MPE on June 19 and then retake it at a later date? Or is it too late for me and will I be in lower divisioned Math courses? Any advice or guidance will be very helpful.

well i know some friends that didnt even take cal or pre cal, so they were placed in math 3(or4)c, which is pre calc

personally, i never took calc in hs but i placed in math 10a (calc) when i took the mpe during orientation

If you don’t take the test, you’ll be placed into Math 4 or 3 or whatever pre-cal is (can’t remember on top of my head). If you take the MPE and pass you’ll be able to do 10a or 20a.

My advice is to take calc or pre-calc at community college over the summer and then to enter UCSD in the next course of math.
