If there was a similar thread on this before, just post the link to the thread. I apologize for being too lazy to look for it myself.

I just received an e-mail regarding the UCSD Math Placement Exam. I haven't taken calculus at a community college and I just took the AP for calc BC this year, so I won't know my scores until July. Although I did take the SAT II Math IIC, I only scored 640, ten ridiculous points below the minimum.

So these are my options:
1.) I take the MPE on June 10 at Berkeley (it's the closest university where they administer the test) and don't wait for my AP scores to come in. This is assuming I didn't get AT LEAST a 2 on the AB portion. God forbid.
2.) I take the MPE after receiving my AP scores in July after realizing that I didn't receive a 2+.
4.) I just kick back, relax, and wait until September, which is when we move in.
3.) I manage with a 2+.

Obviously, the last option would be ideal so that I wouldn't have to worry. The previous two are worst-case scenarios. Should I take the MPE before or after I receive my AP scores? My only concern is that if I wait until later to take the exam, they will only offer it in southern Cal, and it would be extremely inconvenient for me to go down there just to take that flippin' test. Any advice?

I think you should take it before you get your scores back. If you take the MPE, you still have your AP score to rely on. Its better to get it over with now then worry about it in September.

I am pretty bummed about this whole MPE. I took calc this year, and I am assuming I passed, but if I didn't... It will be extrememly inconvient to have to take this d*** test. I could not live any farther away from UCSD and still live in California.

sumguynamedtoan: your ap score should be in the "scores received" (or similar section) in the checklist (at the bottom). ucsd will not have ap scores unless you specifically sent them to ucsd (they don't go with sat's)

yeah sure, its not required for anything, you just need it for placement, they're optional since you dont have to have them to get in. if you're taking ap tests this year you should have written "ucsd" for your school you want scores to be sent to.

How would i send in the Calc AB score i got last year? I took BC this year, but im unsure if i passed or not so how to i request my AB score to be sent to UCSD?

do you still have to have your ap scores sent if you failed the exam? do they need it to check against what i told them, or do they only need it if i passed?

oh, and if it's not down in the reported scores section on the checklist i need to have them sent? because this year i put ucsd but last year i just left the college part blank (obviously). so will they all be sent this year or should i just call someone?
