<p>I start at Clemson in the fall as a sophomore. I took Calc 1 and 2 at a cc. In these classes we were aloud to use a calculator we just had to also show our work. A guy in one of my classes told me that calculators are not aloud in theses classes in Clemson. Is this true? It seems like having to do even simple things by hand like multiplying and dividing numbers, although not hard, will still take forever. Do they tend to give whole numbers? I have to take 206 and 208. Will these also be no calculator classes? What math class do they stop giving departmental exams?</p>
<p>Well I don’t know about 206 and 208 but for Calc I and II, we were not allowed to use calculators at all (even on exams). Believe me though, some of the stuff was harder than simply multiplying and dividing numbers but it’s good since if you can do it without a calculator, you can do everything.</p>
<p>They don’t give departmental exams starting in 206. Exams will be in your classes.</p>
<p>I completed a math minor at Clemson, and I can count on one hand the amount of tests I was able to use a calculator on (other than business math). I didn’t take 206 (started with business calc, self-studied up to 208), but my roommate wasn’t able to use a calculator in the class. 206 is very difficult due to the calculus and concepts, but the arithmetic is pretty easy. You won’t be asked to do anything ridiculous, and they are usually lenient if you get confused on simple math and don’t totally simplify. For most people, 206 is much more difficult than 208.</p>
