Quick question to any math students, particularly those in MATH 220/224:

What is the policy on calculators? Are they not allowed in the class in general, or just not in finals? Also, what kind of calculators would you consider most helpful? Thank you!

You can use calculators on Webassigns (out-of-class homework). You cannot use calculators of any kind on the weekly discussion group quizzes, or on the midterms and finals.

Any graphing or scientific calculator will be just fine.

Practically, you really don’t need a calculator, as you don’t need to simplify your answers.

PieceofToast pretty much answered about Math 220. It’s been awhile since I took that class, but that’s pretty much how I remember it was when I took it, too.

As for other classes, it will probably depend on the professor. Some professors will allow you to use a calculator, but only a non-graphing one. Others will let you use anything.
