If y=1+1/x and x>1 then y could equal
I have it down to these choices (C) 9/7

(D) 15/7
(E) 19/7

Can you tell me how you solve this. You probably can substitute but there has to be another way of solving it.

you have to have a number where you subtract one and it will be less than one, so that when you take the reciprocal you get a number greater than one, C fits these conditions

If x>1, then 1/x<1 and y<1+1=2. Thus, (c) is the only possible answer.

y converges to one 1 and y < 2. therefore 1 < y < 2. and only (C) satisfies that.

Wait.. why isn't it D?

(Let x=7 and it works)

Yea, if X>1... 1+ a number <1 means that the overall number must be <2.... C is the only one that satisfies that.
