Math question

At North High School, the ski club has 15 members and the debate club has 12 members. If a total of 11 students belong to only one of the two clubs, how many students belong to both clubs?

The answer is 8.

I got the right answer but I'm not sure if I did it correctly.
I did 15-11, 12-11, and 15-12 to get 4, 1, and 3 respectively, and then added them together to get 8..

Is my process correct?

no, it’s not correct. there are a total of 27 members, 11 of which only belong to one club. Thus, the other 16 slots are filled by members in 2 clubs. so there are 8 people (in 2 clubs)

thanks lol i dont know what i was doing
