I have to choose one of them, but I'll need your opinion on this matter. Obviously, I have this passion for both of these subjects, but I can't afford to major in both as I'm already going to major in music composition. So I'm wondering if math or cs is harder; if there is more workload in math or cs; if math or computer science is more popular. Thanks a lot, people! :D

go for computer science

Speaking as an unemployed math major, I think you should study computer science.

Computer science would be a nice complement to the music composition major.

I know quite a few programmers who play in a band or orchestra at night. As a programmer your hours could also be pretty flexible, and it’s a good way to make a living. I have found good musicians are usually good programmers too.

If you want a nice mix of both go for electrical engineering.

There’s more work in CS. The labs consume a lot of time.

vincent vega, why would EE be a mix? CS would take close to the same math classes as EE.

Ive heard from several people that EE requires almost as much math as a math major, which is the reason I’m doing it. I could be wrong though.

If you’re interested in math and CS, I wouldn’t recommend EE. I would recommend math or CS. The math you’ll be doing in math and CS is different than the math you’d be doing in CS. Not to say there’s no overlap, but let’s stop kidding ourselves.

As far as which one… it’s really up to you. Both are good majors. CS probably has better initial employment and salary, but at the end of the day it’s probably a wash.

If you enjoy programming especially, CS might be a good choice… it will be a leg up in coursework, at least.
