incoming freshman here... i'm interested in skipping math53 (multi) as i have a decent grasp of the concepts. i have credit from EPGY, how do i go about receiving credit for the class? other people on this thread have previously said to contact the math faculty... who exactly? thanks!

Why not just call the department at the phone number listed on its web page, which is +1 (510) 642-6550 ?

Here are some old tests from Math 53:
Math 53 | Department of Mathematics at University of California Berkeley;

You should probably email them.

I would like to add that it is, in my opinion, highly unlikely they will give you credit for the class. EPGY is more “summer enrichment” than it is “summer class.”

At most, they might let you place out of the class, but you would have to substitute another math class for the requirement you’re trying to fulfill (I’m assuming that’s what you’re doing), and you wouldn’t get credit.

Didn’t you get into Stanford? lol why would you pick Berkeley… so confused…

There’s a thing held by the math department called “credit by examination”. I think you contact the math department (there’s a woman there called Jennifer Sixt, if I remember correctly) and she will explain to you how to do it. I heard that it’s pretty rare, but all you need to do is get a faculty member to sign you off, and take an exam.

thanks for the feedback! i will try to schedule something with ms. sixt then
