Hey sweethearts!

I'm not sure if there is something similar to this thread, but I have noticed some discussion of students on Facebook so I wanted to open up a discussion here, because I don't have a Facebook account.

So I've got a few questions, pretty petty, but I need to know for next year.

I live in New York City and our snow isn't THAT bad. But, what's it like in Wellesley? I mean, would I be able to get away with Frye boots or rain boots in the snow? Or do I need some heavy duty LL Bean boots?

Hi!

I’ve been living in Beijing for five years, so I know what super cold winters are like. I also was born in Boston, so hopefully I can help you.

Heavy duty LL Bean boots would DEFINITELY be useful - they may not be super attractive, but your toes will thank you later! Also, the key to staying warm is layering! Thermal heat insulating tanks and camis will do the trick.

Hopefully I’ll see you in the fall! :)

@beautyandvogue-- I would bring Frye boots (good for Fall), but the snow would ruin them. So you’d probably need Uggs and/or LL Bean boots, plus rain boots.

Does anyone know if they are any cool thrift shops around?

This was posted on our FB group. We’re all really excited to go together!!
[The Garment District ® - An Alternative Department Store featuring women’s and men’s new and used clothing, shoesand accessories.](http://www.garmentdistrict.com/departments/dap/index.htm)

HOLY CRAP! That sounds amazing, I’m in! One of the few times I actually wishes that I had facebook!
Haha keep me updated, I would love to go

Omg please let me come!!! I just seen that link and got soooo excited. That’s definitely my dream store.

Yes! Sounds like a plan to me. I’ve never gone thrifting, so this should be an adventure

I’m trying to make a habit of saying “women’s college” instead of “all-girls”. It has such a negative connotation

@bassbeatle and beautyandvogue - count me in on the shopping trip!! I nearly died from excitement when I clicked on the link.

Vintage and thrift shopping is so much fun because it’s way more exciting when you actually find something that fits perfectly and is a great deal. Its all about the hunt =P I’m so excited.

^That speech was really good!

I got a course catalog in the mail today, but it’s a 2010-2011 one. Did anyone who received a catalog get the new, 2011-2012 one? And does it really matter; do the classes actually change that much from year to year (or just the first-year seminars)?

I think most of the classes stay the same. But I found a link on the Wellesley website to 2011-2012 course catalog but it’s the propoposed version. I don’t think much will change, but I’m still excited!

First Year Seminars WASSUP

[Wellesley College :: Proposed Course Catalog](http://www.wellesley.edu/DeanCollege/CCI/Proposed/proposed1112.html)

The course catalog for 2011-2012 will be more useful than the one for this year, because not all classes are offered every year.

(By the way, first years register during orientation. I would suggest waiting until then to seriously plan out your schedule).

Thanks beautyandvogue and college_ruled! And yeah, I know that as an incoming first year I have a while until I can actually plan out my schedule, but I’m just too excited!!!

IDK I totally planned out my schedule during the Summer last year, when we got access to Banner. It really helped with the whole “Ogod why isn’t it Orientation, yet?” feeling I had alllll summer.
