there was a point when the temperature was like 5 degrees F. We got 2 feet at one point this year and only classes before 9am were canceled. It seemed like during february, it was always kind of snowing, but it wasn’t really sticking (probably because of the exorbitant amounts of road salt they use here), so it was just really wet.

Invest in snow boots, you definitely will need them. Rubber soled, high ankle. This means not uggs.

im a guy…besides i know better than to wear uggs even if I was a girl

is ther a place in ithaca to buy winter clothes/boots?

I would recommend ordering your winter gear online from places like Columbia, EMS, LLBean, etc., and then have it delivered to your dorm on campus.

That would be the easiest in my opinion.

of course there are places to buy stuff there, you think the people that live there are walking aorund barefoot all winter?

^So funny. On our tour there was a girl from Florida who asked the weather question. The tour guide said: “Well, you will need to buy boots. And don’t buy them in Florida.”

Hey, now, MD Mom, I bought my northface coat at a mall in Orlando and it got me through the winter. :p

However, I do agree with everyone, winter boots are necessary and you can probably find them cheaper online as opposed to in-store. My faculty advisor did recommend checking out a place in College-town, though…but I can’t for the life of me remember what it’s called, unfortunately.

IIRC we stopped at an Eastern Mountain sports store, which had stuff like that, in a strip mall someplace in Ithaca.
But I’m sure there are a number of places.

I was planning on buying some stuff online if I couldnt find it for cheaper on campus. So you CAN ship stuff to your dorm? nice

Of course you can ship things to your dorm! It’s always fun to receive packages, even if you know what’s in them! However, there’s almost nothing better than receiving a surprise care package from home.

You will be drowned by the ubiquitous blinding white monstrosity known as snow.
