Mawrtyr's coin toss: from NY Times "The Choice"

[Happily, Bryn Mawr Wins in a Coin Toss - NYTimes.com](http://thechoice.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/02/07/bryn-mawr-hannah-smith/#more-27669)

What a great read – a freshman tell her story and the New York Times publishes it…

Hi Ottoline, thanks for posting this link. It was a terrific article. The author summed up much of the appeal of Bryn Mawr; the unique traditions, the close community, the diverse student body, the consortium with Haverford (& to a lesser degree with Swarthmore & UPenn). Also, the academic rigor while esconsed in one’s great dorm room on a stunning campus with close proximity to a major city. The only thing that I might quibble with is the title of “Coin Toss”…hands down favorite for a lot of young women.

JG, good point about the “coin toss” reference and now I’m so sorry I used it in my subject head … On Valentine’s Day, it’s fun to reminisce about falling in love with
Bryn Mawr … at first sight! It was just meant to be interview practice but it wasn’t long before I started imagining what it would be like to be part of the community. One that included President Harris Wofford, Dean McPherson, the great Richmond Lattimore, Mary Maples Dunn (my history prof who went on to run Smith College), and Katharine Hepburn, who came back to visit! Happy Valentine’s Day to Bryn Mawr – love to hear what the day’s like on campus …
