<p>Can someone tell me if the maximum Presidential Academic Award is for 50% of tuition or is it 100%?</p>
<p>I think I had read on these boards that one or two lucky students had received full tuition scholarships. GW says half tuition is their maximum award. </p>

<p>I think half-tuition is the max for the PAS--to my knowledge, the full-scholarships are something else. Mine was 1/2 and everyone that I've talked to hasn't had anything over 1/2.</p>

<p>Perhaps this 50% tuition scholarship is for certain schools within GW, while other schools might offer 100% scholarships. </p>

<p>Actually, my PAS was knocked down because the PAS plus the ROTC scholarship I received exceeded tuition. So apparently they can award the scholarship at what ever amount they choose, but I don't think it goes over 1/2 tuition.</p>

<p>Congratulations on the Foggy Bottom choice. That location has a lot going on.
I didn't realize that with the ROTC and the PAS together it would exceed expenses. Do these come to more than tuition ($37,000) or exceed total costs ($49,000)? Either way, I'm glad you get to go! </p>
<p>It is my son who was accepted, but is having to decline. With the 50% tuition scholarship that still left $30,000+ per year and we are unable to afford that over four years. </p>
<p>He is going to UNC-Chapel Hill and is slowly warming up to the idea. He really liked the DC area. </p>

<p>Thanks. :) ROTC + PAS barely exceeded the tution--but with the rest of my financial aid package (grants, loans, etc.), it exceeded the total costs. I was at GW last week and got to meet with their financial aid office, and they actually reworked my financial aid award so that my family will still have to pay the EFC. But after working this summer, that hopefully won't be much of a problem.</p>
<p>I'm sorry to hear that someone else is prevented from going because of the costs. Tuition and housing at GW is way too high, and it's unfortunate that many people can't attend because of it. I know I couldn't have without ROTC.</p>
