Hello:

With the May 1 deadline approaching, it seems logical to expect an FA offer by now. However, one of the colleges that accepted my S have yet to send an offer.

Is this typical? If we don't hear anything, do we just assume that they aren't offering anything? I know that one school made an offer, but it was all loans, so at least they sent something.

Pick up the phone and call them. They will be able to tell you why it is taking so long.

No, it is not typical. If you can’t get the offer by May 1, you should not send the deposit to this school. Pick another school. If this school sends an offer later, and it looks better than the choice you made, make sure you can get acceptance into the school and then back out of the school where you sent the first deposit.

I don’t think well of financial aid offices that do this, and schools that allow this to happen without communicating with the applicant as to what the issue is.

u definitely should have your award letters in hand by now. i’d call.
