I signed up for this event, but didn’t go. – I woke up at 2 p.m. this morning. Oops. However, I received the UCLA orientation program pamphlet.

For all of you who went to the transfer day, how was it! Did you learn a lot and what kind of info did they give out?

so i went today, came in a little late but whatever. I was expecting a lot of people to be there, but there werent that many so i was pretty disappointed. Counselors came and talked about differnet programs, honors program, studying abroad, time management, etc. Different people who are students there or alumnis came and talked about what their major was and the extracurricular activities that they do. Then we did the ucla bruin initiation 8 clap thing which was fun i felt the energy! haha cookies and drinks in the back. yeah it was short and i was hoping it would be somewhat like ucsd’s admit day, but it wasnt. oh well lol i learned a lot, met some ppl, talked to the counselors and stuff.

UCSD =)

10char

^ but I STILL would choose ucla over ucsd anyday LOL

it was fun, but mostly because i saw a handful of friends i didn’t know were accepted to UCLA, which was awesome! overall, pretty fun!

…the A-CLAP was… a wake-up! the cheerleaders were awesome. lol

anyone attend the I.D.E.A.S. workshop?

dude… what the f?!

blacklable and connex… who are you people?

i was sitting on my own, white shirt, jorts, toward the back on the left side…

a better description: i was the white guy who wasn’t sitting with his parents / was incredibly awkward when it came to the 8-Clap.

i was sitting to the far right side of the room, around the middle section?
black jeans, greyish buttoned shirt, a red birthmark on left arm? lol…
it was pretty packed, so it would’ve been impossible for anyone to spot each other… lol.

i was with a friend, so all my attention was focused on her, sort of.

we totally should had a CC meet-up at 'LA!

Hmm…I finally made my decision after flying to this event. I chose UC Berkeley over UCLA. When I went to the UCLA Bruin Day in the DoubleTree Hotel, I was surprised how empty the room was…I guess it was not a lot of people, because not a lot of people knew about the event, since they were probably doing it for the first time for the Transfer Students in the Bay Area, but the students they chose to represent UCLA were not the best (since i am an economics major, I talked to the guy who represented econ. department and he could not answer 1/2 of my questions…he later told me he got to live in the hotel for free, so this is the only reason he decided to represent UCLA). After visiting the Berkeley Transfer Day, which was more formal and vivid (where the speakers gave truly inspirational speeches and the atmosphere in general was energized), I thought that UCLA would have something close to it if I fly to the UCLA campus. (since they would do it on their own campus, like Berkeley did). It was very disappointing to see that the UCLA Transfer Day on campus was a copy of the previous one in the hotel, except with different students in an empty room full of chairs. Of course, I did not base my decision on this fact alone and I loooooved the UCLA campus in general (I even got to eat there with my friends, see the dorms and go to the gym), but there was a huge difference in representation and organization between the two schools that it was enough for me to make the decision.

pinkerfloyd: haha i was on the way right side sort of the in back, i came 20 minutes late. I was sitting behind this girl and next to a guy who was playing with this iphone lol… WAS THAT YOU BLACKLABEL??? from your clothing description, he was wearing black jeans and a buttoned up shirt as well.

yeah we totally should have had a meetup or something, too late now lol

stomp was pretty lame, i was pretty disappointed :(

Russiangirl2008, I’m a transfer student admitted to UCLA and I didn’t even HEAR about this event. Probably because it was in the bay area…for me (I live like 30 min away from the school) they didn’t have anything. :/

missyujin, I think it is because they send invitations to people, who live close to the “events”…For example, I got an invitation to the Cal Transfer Day (I live 2 hours away from Berkeley) and UCLA Bruin Day (when they rented DoubleTree hotel in Berkeley Marina), but I did not hear anything about the UCLA Transfer Day (I read about it on the forum lol)

I live about 25 minutes from UCLA and got nothing about the transfer day.

Yeah I didn’t hear anything either. It’d take me under an hour to drive to UCLA. I think they’re just unorganized. Remember all the leaks around the time they released admission decisions? I submitted my SIR the DAY I was accepted and didn’t receive my special phone call until today. Lazy, lazy lazy. Oh well, they have a good location.

saturday’s transfer admit reception (AAP + STOMP) was for URM students. i called to ask about it / sign up, and they didn’t turn me away, but as i was one of two white people in the room, i think it was fairly obvious why i (and probably the rest of you) didn’t get the invite.

it was total crap, anyway.
it felt more like a formal take on a pep rally than anything else…
you didn’t miss out.
the transfer orientation is going to cover everything in heavy detail…
7:30am - 9:00pm, if i’m not mistaken.

^ definately, im stoked about the orientation :)

which day are u guys signing up for the orientation? I’m thinking the first one, but havent decided yet.

connex… the thing is, I DO have an iPhone! maybe it WAS me! chunky,. iphone,. black jeans. yup. hahaha
um, I was sitting 'bout four rows behind a mic. stand, at the edge next to my friend.
she’s sort and was wearing a blackvest kind of thing.
I was sitting infront of two african-americans?
eee! how exciting! hahaha

^ i DID SEE YOU! HAHA u mean the 2 girls who were freaking loud and always cheering?? lol, they were funny. yeah i was on the next section to your right in the back.

this is very exciting lol :D

aaahaha! how fun! I don’t know why, but just the idea of such coincidence makes me smile! haha yeessss! the freakin’ loud girls! I soo remember them. haha

I looked everywhere BUT to my right!
the right side of my face is not the good side.
haha kidding.

the left side of my face looks better since it has a dimple while the right side doesnt LOL, okay i dont know what I’m talking about and im tired.

yeah those 2 were really loud, reminded me of cheerleaders… right in the center too.
orientation will be better though, i can feel it! it better be cus stomp was not that organized and it was whatevers. I’m excited for juneeeee! :D
