May 2011 SAT - Scores and Delays

wow, you’re right. you are so mature. i’m going to go find a hobby too. what do you think i should do? marbles? fishing? what do you do in your free time?

shh
we don’t need the extra heat

hey i do have a hobby, i keep on playing hopscotch and throwin’ jacks but i can’t get that dang score outta my mind y’know? :(

Guys, don’t rip on Parhaitiy. While he might have been a bit immature, he makes a valid point that your score really shouldn’t be such a grave concern… I don’t even think complaining about it will necissarily accomplish anything either.

Also noticed the College Board hasn’t sent out any email regarding the coincidence… anyone reach a consensus?

@highschoolrules Play sports, or better yet, masturbate to the thought of a 2400 (seems like a popular hobby on this forum). Joking, obviously…

Is it very easy to take your mind off a certain thing if you try. I honestly forgot all about the damn test a couple of days after I took it, and then I remembered that scores were coming out soon. It’s not a taxing burden in any way shape or form…

@Parhaitiy, while I do agree that most of the people on this forum are very stuck up and egotistical, the fact of the matter is that it’s not about taking your mind off wondering what you got. The fact is, the collegeboard delayed scores by 3 days. Now, WHY? There is absolutely NO explanation for this delay and THAT is what’s really making me mad.

this is a meaningless argument, why should anyone care about someone else’s reaction to a delayed score? The fact of the matter is, is that we were told we had to wait a whopping 18 days to see a score that directly influences our future, and then, in the last 12 hours of waiting, were informed that we were to wait an additional 3 days. This is obviously frustrating to 90% of test takers, and for that I feel that it is proper for college board to at least provide us with a reason for this delay.

10char

I actually really need my scores now so I can figure out which colleges are reasonable choices to write on my rec letter request form, which I need to give to teachers within the next week. The CollegeBoard just fills me with rage sometimes. If they’d given more than half a day of forewarning, I wouldn’t be so mad, but I just feel really stressed right now.

There is absolutely no way that anyone can rationalize this in favor of the collegeboard. We should get 10 free points just for this but CB obviously won’t do it cause they’re *** holes

I have a hypothesis - this may be due to that one fill-in question for Math where the answer was “0”, and people put the number in multiple columns. It may have caused scoring errors.

The thing that made me mad was going on their website and reading your scores will now be available may 28th without even one mention that its actually delayed. On the bright side, when i stay up until 2 AM on Friday, I won’t have to go to school feeling like crap the next day:)

Don’t they specifically say though, that the number placement doesn’t matter?

I don’t remember having that problem, and I know what question you’re talking about.

Isn’t the zero always on the far right column?

Yeah, it’s not so much the delay as it is the timing of the delay that frustrates me. If they told us a week ago that it would be delayed by 2 days we would have all been over it by now, but the fact is a lot of us were expecting to have our scores by tomorrow morning.

I don’t think anyone has the right to judge other people’s excess or lack of caring. I’m personally half way between the people who will be clicking refresh every second at 4:59 AM and the people that couldn’t really care. I care a lot about the score itself, but seeing as I’m not applying for another four or five months, the delay itself just mildly frustrates me.

Fellas CAlm DoWN!!! At this stage, it is extremely unlikely that the delay is due to something like filling a number in a certain column or adjusting the curve… It is most likely due to something more unexpected like the tornadoes or the scantrons being damaged.

What if they were still scanning the tests and lost the ones that still needed to be scanned?
Dun dun dun…

Collegeboard would save a lot of time and energy if they would just say **** it and give everyone a 2200

This is more frustrating than anything.
It wouldn’t be so bad if they had announced it earlier opposed to hours before the scores were supposed to be released, and they probably knew they would have to delay the results as well.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they didn’t meet a Score Report Quota or something…

I have a feeling there’s gonna be a lot of ****ed off people at around 4AM tomorrow morning.

@MMAfAnatic9
yeah good point
