May 2011 - US History Post-Test Discussion

i said it was the riots … not sure though. it showed racial b/c some racists didn’t want to enlist into the army, economic … errr they didn’t want to leave their farms? and social because some people paid their way out of the draft. not sure …

caribbean and brazil

economic self help = eventually integration

@ana no

Race riots in New York protesting a proposed draft; Brazil and the Caribbean; and equal economic standing would lead to equal political and social standing, respectively.

@anaserena I was answering the question about the emotional meeting thing lol and ya im pretty sure it was great awakening.

What are typical curves for this test?

I second the new york draft, brazil, and economic self-efficiency

nostalgicwisdom
I think the last number was 3. so it went 1.5-> 3 the last time also

And the Malthus answer was applied to the food production, I think…

Cherokee, Chikasaw…: Iroqoui - that’s not correct.
Population chart: population approx doubles every 20 years - I don’t agree, because in 20 years in went from 1.9 to 2.3 or something, but i could be wrong.

But thank you for doing that :)

@nostalgicwisdom lol the only reason i put it increased double was because it said it in my review book thing, and thats why i put it even tho the chart didnt really seem to double, but it say nearly double lol

Yeah, I put the answer talking about higher birth rates (or maybe lower death rates) too. It didn’t seem like a particularly tricky question at the time either.

-2 to 3 wrong is a 800 right?

What do you guys think the curves gonna be for an 800? -8 maybe?

yeah, I could swear it didn’t really look like it was doubling. I could be wrong though(in which case ***)

Did the population of cities exceed the population of villages/rural in 1920? cause thats what i put…

Ps. I know this is history, but did anyone else take lit?

Thank you mango
As for the unanswered questions, here were my thoughts
43. the event in civil war that displayed racial, economic, and social tensions?
Riots in New York about draft, but I was not sure about this one
44. slaves in the 1600s and 1700s were shipped to ?
Brazil and the Caribbean

@xAlex452 ya its pop of cities exceed the pop of the villages, pretty sure

lol the ones where the slaves are being shipped to still seems to be under debate
and i doubt creeks and cherokees etc were from eastern woodland because all of them are located somewhere in the southwest i think

That’s what I put too. The others didn’t seem right

Go to the thread for the Literature Subject Test to discuss that.

The New England colonists included more educated men as well as many skilled farmers, tradesmen and craftsmen. They were mostly farmers and settled in small villages for common religious activity. Shipbuilding, commerce, and fisheries were important in coastal towns. New England’s healthy climate (the cold winters killed the mosquitoes and other disease-bearing insects), and abundant food supply resulted in the lowest death rate and highest birth rate of any place in the world (marriage was expected and birth control was not, and a much higher than average number of children and mothers survived).
