May 2011 - US History Post-Test Discussion

Ugh hopefully I didn’t mix them up… I was too excited that the test was extremely easy compared to ap, so I didn’t even read most of the questions/answer choices completely, haha… stupid overconfidence! Sigh :p

I thought the social gospel applied the puritan work ethic towards self betterment???

@ alex
i think it was C or something, about uplifting society to help people “reach” predestination

edit: maybe it was D

Social gospel is like belief that christians should help the poor and improve society… Isn’t it?

Does anyone remember any of the other choices to the Reagan question involving the scandal of secretly selling arms to Iran?

Haha yeah thats true each test had a question about the supporters of the Republican governments in the South
Scalawags- AP
Carpetbaggers- Subject Test
@apcalc1 Yes there was 2 questions I think

^The social gospel came out of the Second Great Awakening and led to a lot of the pre-Progressive reform movements (and some of the Progressive Era movements). It basically said that Christians should to apply the ideologies of Christianity to social issues.

One more on Reagan!!!
There was a answer choices like “Reagan will encourage anti- communist influence in other nation” and something about human rights… I forgot the full question, but it seemed like the anti-communism one was correct.

Oh and I believe there was a quote question about domino theory… Or was that in AP exam? lol :p

is that the question asking what is the reagan doctrine? if so that was on the ap test

& oh yeah!! there was a question about the domino theory. accompanied with a quote about vietnam falling, then asia, then the us retreating to hawaii

Oh right, no that was today’s test.

dammit! I’m like lost between AP exam and sat! Sorry for confusing you guys, I’ll stop now haha. :)

Oh… FINALLY!!

ya, domino theory was another answer

^the thing about human rights was one of the answer choices to the question asking why Carter lost for reelection (it was wrong, the actual answer was the iranian hostage crisis + inflation)

one more attempt for recalling questions. Wasn’t there one about Boston massacre? With the Townshend act as a correct answer…OR THAT WAS ON AP TEST… again, haha -_-

^i dont recall a boston massacre question. haha maybe i’m wrong.

@post
no no no I wasn’t thinking about the carter’s reelection one w/ hostage crisis and inflation… The question was definitely about reagan, for stopping communism as choice B and discouraging violence of human rights as C… Yup, I guess it was on apush test as smug said haha :(

Was there a question about either the Articles of Confederation or the Constitution? I’m somewhat sure there was, but I can’t remember it. If there was, it was probably pretty easy though.

hmm wasn’t it something like the weakness of AoC? The answer choices were like levying taxes, declaring war, etc… I think?

I remember being confused bw these two choices, either today or yesterday…

^That was on a practice test somewhere, not on yesterday’s APUSH or today’s Subject Test.

Just remembered a couple of questions (sorry if some had already been discussed):

The transcendentalist question was A (which statement would they agree with). The statement was something like “Person must look into nature to find self.” Other wrong choices had stuff like military preparedness.

Bacon’s Rebellion (#1) was also A–that it was some Virginia backcountry farmers that were angry. I was expecting some mention of indentured servants (since I had written FRQ #2 on the APUSH exam yesterday) but the other 4 choices were even less related to Bacon’s Rebellion.

Taft-Hartley Act curbed the powers of labor unions.

The map with arrows from the Southeast going into Oklahoma was Indian removal.

The “criticism” with the suspension of habeas corpus, etc. was Lincoln responding to Maryland’s threat of secession.
