I’m using AMSCO along with Princeton Review for last minute review. Also, I will take some past released AP tests I have. And maybe review for some essays. I got a 5 for World History last year, so I’m not TOO worried about this test.

Don’t like 5 steps to a 5. Best bet is Amsco + Crash Course + Sample Essays from AP Central.

Could someone please explain the difference between the content in the Crash course book and the REA (are you serious about a 5) book? My D has the REA (ordinary) book and the AMSCO book.

Is Crash course just a synopsis of the regular REA book or are they totally different?

5 steps to a 5, i’ve found useless. you might want to consider Princeton Review to go along with AMSCO. it especially might push you closer smothering that 5 on APUSH because, especially if you know your facts, it gives you how to exactly write the FRQs. AMSCO you’ll need if you want/need more facts.

AMSCO is what my teacher provided. it’s good but i like APUSH for Dummies (I know, I know laaame) but it really works. it has lots of basic facts (good for background info for DBQs) but i wouldn’t recommend using it instead of a textbook or the AMSCO.

How much homework does everyone get for this class, per night? I average about 3hours…my teacher is insane! Today we had a 17 chapter DBQ, same deal next week. Can’t wait until May 8!!!

I’m using amsco and some barrons note cards my friend used last year.
and my teacher gave us tons of packets/practice questions

how useful is the crash course book? and is it like a fast read? cuz the ap exam is in less than 2 weeks so if i get it, i want to make sure i’ll finish it on time.

I’m basically using AMSCO to review my facts in more detail, the princeton review for the practice tests and little refreshers to help jog my memory, a ton of useful notes I’ve taken over the year including many handouts from my apush teacher. I might consider buying flashcards as well.

I’m really excited about taking this test! I’ve been doing relatively well in this class throughout the year (averaging at around a 90), and I love history. My teacher made us do outlines of each chapter (all 34 of them, such that each outline averaged about 9 pages front and back) for Brinkley’s 10th Edition of American History, A Survey (amazing textbook). Then, we had tests for every two chapters, which was essentially a test every 1.25 weeks. She was an amazing teacher.

Recently I discovered that my brother who goes to college now had a copy of the AMSCO book on his shelf and so I used it to to study for my final, which consisted of, essentially, a mock APUSH exam but way harder. We had to do the multiple choice section and an essay on the first day, and the DBQ and another FRQ on the second day.

Anyways, I just want to say that THIS BOOK IS AMAZING. I also made my own little notes for each significant era i.e. Imperialism, Isolationism, New Deal, Great Society, Era of Conformity, etc, and I hope I get an A in class for the semester (the final was quite challenging) along with a 5 on the Exam.

I wish you all great luck! AMSCO’s the way to go!

The 80 MC questions in AMSCO are kind of hard.
