May SAT 2011: CR Section

Okay, well… what about ‘credibility?’ Are we decided on that? Didn’t the first paragraph mention his work as a labor of love spanning 40-something years? So, wouldn’t that infer that he’s heavily-motivated in that field? I’m wondering if we came to a concrete decision on that question.

What is “playfully careless” the answer to?

And what is the question for the answer of “credibility”?

Um. It was something like “The description of Gutrhie in lines X to Y (the first lines in the first paragraph of passage 2) serves primarily to highlight Guthrie’s…”

That’s how I remember it.

definitely sure its credibility
especially since the rest of the passage goes on ONLY citing him as an authoritative source, he must have established credentials to be taken seriously. who would care if he was heavily motivated? it wasnt talking about his personal interests

Playfully careless was referring to Gurthie’s description of the teenagers in the cave. And Credibility was referring to the authors first paragraph, which describes Gurthie’s experience as a Natural Historian. Both answers are correct (:

and what were the questions for gifted paleolothic artists and natural history one?
i remember putting down familiar techniques as an answer

His book wouldn’t have been called a “labor of love” had he not been heavily interested/motivated in his field of study…

i didnt say he wasnt heavily motivated
i said it didnt matter in the context of the passage, because it wasnt about him, it was about WHAT he said in order to cite him as a source by the author of passage 2

The “gifted paleolithic artists” answer was referring to the Art Historian’s opinions of the paintings decribed in Passage 1’s introduction. “Evidence for natural historians” was referring to Gurthie’s opinion of those paintings. I think, not sure of exact wording.

okay thanks, it served to jog my memory a bit, but i still feel a bit lost on those last two
do you remember any other answer choices?

pretty sure its delighted not sympathetic

No I’m fairly certain its sympathetic.
And credibility and playfullness are definitely right I remember them now

@OMGitsanAZN
a)early attempts by accomplished artists
b)data for art historians
c)evidence for natural history… etc. Don’t remember much more than that.

i agree with brandnew3773 on those^

Guys… Was the real math the one with a star?

Not the v= a 3/2 right?

Well so far I’m thinking I may have gotten an 800 on this section but since we can’t know for certain if any of these answers are true I guess I have to wait 2 weeks to find out…

The one with the stars answer was 24 and the A^3/2 was the answer to the V:A one…and both of those were not experimental…

Wait…wAs the boat one experimental?

@wolf yeah i’m pretty sure the boat one was…but take this to the math forum because all of those questions have been answered already and this isn’t the right forum for these questions…

Sorry. By the way, for the critical reading question about the caves, the artists were novices…like teenagers who didn’t care.
