May SAT 2011: CR Section

@OMF how can I read the article? I only found an info page…

@vivizzz
waddya mean read it?.. scroll down or something? loll i have no idea what you could mean

@skipblooms
i also put “personal and creative” and thats definitely right, because finding your soul and a distinctive voice is definitely both of those
the distinctive answer choice would definitely be wrong because it went something like “the value of jazz is hard to determine because every jazz player is distinctive”

 1. it mentionted nothign about the VALUE of jazz
 2. not every jazz player is distinctive, just because they are trying to achieve it doesnt mean they do

i also hope its creativity precedes formal, not formal precedes creative…

@viv i think undefinable cannot mean “cant be separated” => it just DOESNT make sense!??
in fact now that i read the passage i again im sure its relentless
@OMF im not sure about you, but personally im REALLY sure it was conservatory before creative because i was really confused by that question and couldnt find a good answer so i settled on demanding instead. if it was creative preceding i would have picked it for sure.

WEVE GOT 59 LETS KEEP THINKING

@OMF I want to read the black singer article but your link led me to a review page without the actual article…

idk… i REALLY hope it was creative preceding formal
or else ill feel like a *ing idiot…
excuse my language but that will seriously * me off… loll

@vivizzz
is the first page “the song of our lives” or something written on the back of a black guy’s head?
i checked the link, it works fine…

like i said, middle of page 40, just search “tidal basin”

I put the landscape too. And the effort.

GOD i really wish we could come to a consensus on the following “hot” topics:

 1. jazz demanding
 2. relentless force

and also we should keep brainstorming all the vocabs. theres more than 15… i really wanna get closer to the 67 mark guys :)

Thank god for CC. I felt like I completely winged the CR section, but every single one of my passage answers matches the consolidated list perfectly @_@

Wait, except for the changing tone of the crowd being color. fuuu

CR questions about major guy being elected because of his programspolicies but rather being badword of other guys radical views or something

^oh yeah i remember that vocab too but what was the exact wording??? anyone???

jazz demanding is impossible, because we dont know the answer choice to precedes…
and it is definitely relentless

i didn’t know what “mawkishness” and “obstreperous” meant by i thought they both sounded right and guessed them lololol

great. and also are we settled for the sparks and smokes being effort??? there was someone really really sure that it was futile… now im really scared of gettting like 3 wrong and i really need 750+

I got most right, definitely more right than I got on my practice tests. Do you think I can pull a 650+? And I changed from obstre…whatever to voracious x| UGH.

And I didn’t put mawkishness either because it sounded like “mock” - wow haha.

About the election, I think it was like… the politician didn’t win because she _____ on her policies, but by ______ on her’s opponents radical views. I think I chose an answer with some form of the word vindictive in it… can’t remember though lol

The sparks and smoke I was almost sure I got right. Funny though, I thought effort and futile were part of the same answer. :x

^^^ futile really didn’t make sense in the context of the paragraph, i’m pretty sure we’re mostly agreed upon that it was effort.

edit: also, policies was one of the answer choices. i picked it but i’m not sure what the second word was.

wouldnt the precedes answer be right for both orders since you could interpret “precede” to have two meanings.

conservatory training precedes (finding soul – dont know exact wording) = they do conservatory training first

(finding soul – dont know exact wording) precedes conservatory training = finding soul is more important than conservatory training

It was repudiate for the second blank because I remembered it meant refute! :D
