what was the momentary perplexity about?

what was the “superhuman computer represents lack of technology to use it as a tool” question?

what was prudent again? :/

the passage compared string theory to superhuman computers, implying that superhuman computers, in the 19th century, would be as uselessly complex as the string theory in the current era.

What was the answer to that question comparing science to a path?

prudent was the passage with the mom going to college, and she had planned out how she was going to do so without immediately telling the daughter

"
3)cost means personal toll
1)chimpanzees were cracking nuts
3)puffery was self-regard and exaggeration
"

Disagree with all of these. I forget my answers though.

STRING THEORY QUESTION:
For the question that asked about what the problem was due to *lines 49-51 something like that (2nd passage), what he answer that the math was too complex and that is why
String theory is hard to prove?
Some other choices were 1. Proves the point that particle physics is theoretical science. etc

anyone remember questions from the string theory passage? I think that was the toughest passage.

@sunny I think it was the mathematical/complex answer. The author explicity said that the math was complex.

What were the other answers to the superhuman computer question?

What did you guys get for that one string theory question where the answers were something like the author would “completely agree”, “amused toleration” etc…?

I’m pretty sure the puffery question is “useless _____”

^Why do you disagree? Those were all answers I put.

For puffery, the man was assuming that HE was smarter than chimps, and the author did not see himself as falling under that generalization so it was exaggerated self-regard.

Chimps were cracking nuts by using tools because it was a “factory” where you do productive things

Cost does mean personal toll…because I’ve read Robinson Crusoe? Lol it was pretty evident though

However, I might re-consider after hearing contradictory rationalizing.

@ Manman ; ‘Complete agreement’ or something? Because Passage 1 said testable evidence was necessary.

Bass - the perplexity one was re: this sentence -
“But I failed to see what I myself had to do with it, so far.”

Crazyboy - I put “unpredictable, varied” - whatever the answer along those lines was (:

I didn’t think the math/complex answer was right and went for the “tool” answer instead, or some other answer if this wasn’t the one with tools - since the author didn’t really mention math much in the passage.

I said not flattery but exaggerated self-regard for that question - because flattery usually refers to someone outside oneself, like a boss or a crush. And I felt exaggerated went along more with the author’s tone than useless.

Manman - Completely agree was my choice.

I put useless for the puffery question.

The passage said absolutely nothing about nuts, so why would the answer be about nuts?

I forget the answers for the cost question and nuts question though.

@ManMan- Completely agree. Although I wouldn’t bet on it.

i put arbitrary nature of theoretical physics because it was saying that expirements were what counted

I have an issue with the fact that he turned his back due to eagerness in the Moonstone passage. This selection comes after he discusses hiding his disinterest in writing the recollection of events, which Franklin (was it?) notices. It seems that instead of being eager to go to his desk and write the letter, he would instead do it out courtesy for the man making the request.
