I am getting ready to retire in a few years, and I want to be qualified to teach Accounting at the college level as an adjunct or as an online instructor. I have a BA in Accounting, which I obtained 30 years ago, and I am a CPA and CIA (Certified Internal Auditor). Since most colleges require instructors to have at least a Masters and 18 graduate credits in acccounting, I am looking for an online program. I’d like to get into a program that would allow me to take 3-4 courses per year and keep the cost to within my employer’s tuition reimbursement program. So, I’d like the costs to be about $1,300 per course, but no more than $1,700 per course. The most promising program I found so far was Strayer, but they don’t offer their masters degrees to NJ residents. Whatever school I pick has to be regionally accredited to qualify for the tuition reimbursement. Any suggestions? Many thanks.
Wouldn’t you be better served in a graduate certificate program at the local college? You’ll be granted direct access to the professors you hope to call your peers. A quick search reveals NJ City U in Jersey City offers a accounting graduate certificate program.
Thanks, ferryboat. Actually, I plan to teach in FL, and besides, the graduate certificate wouldn’t count as an advanced degree, which the colleges need in order to pass accreditation requirements.
Rutgers offers a partial (1 summer on campus) online MS program. As do some Florida schools (FAU, Nova).
If UPhoenix doesn’t seem to scare you, check out DeVry
Hey penmark, Colorado Technical University Online, University of Phoenix, Golden Gate University, University of Liverpool are some of the good options for you. They all offer MBA with concentration in Accounting.
