Hi.
I am a Norwegian student about to finish my Bachelor degree in Finance, with good grades.
My grade scale if from F to A, a 6 grade system. I only have B
s and A
s.

I would like to get an MBA right away after my bachelor degree, but alot of MBA
s require Work.Exp.I have been checking out some MBA
s that don`t, for instance Long Beach State, and San Diego State.
How are these MBA programs? Is it stupid of my to go straight into a MBA?
If I graduate from one of the MBA`s mentioned above with top grades. I have aslo been trading commodities for 4 - 5 years on a personal basis when I am done with the MBA. So I have some experience with the financal markets.

What are my chances of getting a $100.000+ paying job?

MBA + No work experience = Starbucks barrister

Do not do an MBA without work experience. Do not do a full time MBA outside of the top schools. No added value.

It is “barrista”

A barrister is a lawyer in England.

Thanks for the reply`s.
I have understood from you guys and also others that I should wait with a MBA.

I have been looking at a master degree in Finance. Is that a better option?
One of the reasons to why I would like to go straight into gradschool is to experience California.
Is it a smart choice to take a master degree? Will that give me alot better job then a Bachelor degree would?

Thanks for helping out :)

A Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting holds a lot of value.

The MSF holds value because it adds a ton of quantitative skills and is a pretty difficult Masters Program for the schools that have the degree.

A Masters in Accounting allows a person to sit for the CPA exam, as well as, be recruited by the Big Four. This can be great job security if you are interested in the field.

You are kidding yourself if you think you will make $100,000 right out of either undergrad or a Masters program with no work experience. The only way would be a hedge fund and there are only a handful of those jobs in the entire country.

You could also challenge and surpass 100k with investment banking AFTER bonus. Maybe a base of 70k and a 30k bonus would be reasonable in a good year. But you don’t ever know how the bonus will grade out.

Thanks for the correction Engineer.

Do a specialized masters or something. Duke and Wake Forest have management masters if you want a general business education before working. MBA’s are generalized and not really hard. I have my MSF and am finishing an MBA now and I want to kill myself the MBA is so boring.
