I finished my freshman year of undergrad a few days ago and I have three and-a-half summer ahead of me. Since I wasn't naturally good at the critical reading section on the SAT I am really scared sh**less of the verbal section on the MCAT, especially after trying out a few verbal passages and getting only 3-6 out of every 7 questions and UNTIMED. My comprehension is not great but I think my main problem stems from my way of thinking and logic on these verbal questions.

Since I hear that the verbal section of the MCAT is skill-based and takes practice, I would like to dedicate this summer to practicing the verbal section questions.

I need suggestions of how many passages I should practice per day or week.
I also need lists of books that have just verbal sections of MCAT (I already have the ExamKrackers 101 Passages). Suggestions of study methods or style can also be helpful.

BTW, I have been reading an article from The Economist each day since 6 months ago.

I plan to be fully ready and take it by first semester of junior year, and I'll take my 2nd one ONLY if I really am really not happy with the score on the first one.

If George H.W. Bush had called the Gulf War (1990) the "First Gulf War," I guarantee you people would have been a lot angrier about it. Don't even anticipate the possibility of a second one.

Can anyone provide a list of some MCAT books that are just contain verbal section questions? Also, how many passages should I practice per day for most effective improvement?

do schools look at how many times youve taken the mcat? do they like combine the scores of mcats like some colleges do (from highschool to undergrad) or just the best one youve taken in one setting?

Yes, they do look at how many times you've taken the MCAT. They look at all MCAT scores. Taking it more than once is generally a big no-no - it doesn't look good on your application. Take it once, and take it when you're ready.

That's not to say that taking it twice will be the end of the world, but it'll hurt your application. Besides, do you really want to take such a long and expensive test twice?
