MCAT verbal reasoning

Hey guys,

I'm a rising sophmore at UNC-CH, and I was just wondering if you all had any advice for the verbal reasoning portion of the test. I read that most of the articles the testmakes use are from humanities, social sciences, and occasionally, natural sciences. Are there any magazines or journals or books that would publish articles or stories similar to that on the MCATS?

I'm sure I wont get an article on the MCATS that i had previously read but I just wanted to familiarize myself with the style of writing and train of thought that one would have when reading an article of that style.

Thanks in advance!

The New Yorker magazine is probably the closest thing. However, I would recommend doing EK's 101 verbal passages as opposed to simply reading through similar articles.

Learning how to answer the questions is what will net you points come test day.

The Economist is also written in a similar style.

Thanks guys, I was actually thinking about subscribing to the new yorker and someone recommended both to me when i was taking the SATs but i didnt know if it was useful for the mcats as well.
