MCB biochemistry in 2 years?

Hi everyone, I am incoming transfer student. I want to major in biochem MCB, but I have not completed Bio 1A/1B. I have done general chem, calc phsycis, and oragnic chemistry. Is it still possible to graduate in 2 years as a biochem MCB major?

https://mcb.berkeley.edu/undergrad/major/major-requirements/requirements indicates that you need the following remaining courses for MCB track 1:

Biology 1A, 1AL, 1B
MCB C100A (requires Biology 1A)
MCB 100B (requires MCB C100A)
MCB 110 (requires MCB C100A, recommends MCB 100B for track 1)
MCB C110L (concurrent MCB 110)
MCB 140 (requires Biology 1A) or C148 (requires MCB C100A)
major elective (from list of BMB electives)

So your schedule could be something like the following, if the courses are offered in the correct semesters:

Semester 1: Biology 1A, 1AL, other courses
Semester 2: MCB C100A, Biology 1B, other courses (may include major elective)
Semester 3: MCB 100B, MCB 140 or C148, other courses (may include major elective)
Semester 4: MCB 110, C110L, other courses (may include major elective)

However, a quick look at the schedule suggests that MCB 100B is only offered in the spring, so you may have to defer it until semester 4, concurrently with MCB 110 and C110L, giving a schedule like this:

Semester 1: Biology 1A, 1AL, other courses
Semester 2: MCB C100A, Biology 1B, other courses (may include major elective)
Semester 3: MCB 140 or C148, major elective, other courses
Semester 4: MCB 100B, 110, C110L, other courses (may include major elective)

Or this:

Semester 1: Biology 1A, 1AL, other courses
Semester 2: MCB C100A, Biology 1B, other courses (may include major elective)
Semester 3: MCB 110, C110L, MCB 140 or C148, other courses (may include major elective)
Semester 4: MCB 100B, other courses (may include major elective)

You may want to ask your major adviser about which courses are offered in which semesters and what the best sequencing would be within that constraint.

Note that Biology 1A and 1B lectures are traditionally offered at the same time (MWF 8:00-9:00 AM), making it difficult to take both in the same semester.

@ucbalumnus OMG Thank you so much! <3

And also, 1A and 1B are TOUGH. Especially 1A since is has a separate lab. Some people (like my D) will flip flop them so they do 1B and then 1A, just so they can ramp up.
