<p>Does anybody know if it's possible to minor in Biology or Molecular & Cellular Biology at UIUC? Pretty much every other school has a Bio minor except U of I...I didn't see it on the list of minors, but is it possible to "create" a minor in Biology?</p>
<p>Neither exists. You cannot “create” minors although you can make up your own honors contract with bio courses if you’re in the James Scholar program (at least in engineering). However, it will not be recognized as relating to any particular subject.</p>
<p>No one is preventing you from taking bio classes that you don’t need. Official recognition of this effort, i.e. a minor, is truly worthless by almost any measure. Anyone doing any hiring or admissions is aware of how small the additional effort for a minor is. At best they get ignored; at worst you look silly for tacking on minors (if you try to get more than 1).</p>
<p>Uhm. There IS a minor in MCB, but I think that’s pretty useless. You might as well just major in it.</p>
