Has anyone taken MCDB 60 or had Professor Cvrkel? I'm enrolled in that class, but should I be worried that the majority of the class is upperclassmen? I think only 2 discussion sections were saved for freshmen enrollment through orientation. Will the freshmen in the class be expected to produce work of comparable quality as the juniors or seniors in the class?

The same quality of work is expected of all students. I took 60 with an instructor other than Cvrkel. There will be upperclassmen in any class you take, be it LS2, Math 31B, or Chem 20A. If you put in the effort, it won’t be a problem.

Okay, that’s good to hear. This is a class that REALLY interests me so I know that I will at least be passionate about learning new stuff in the class, which will make it a very fun class for me. How did you like the class when you took it, phospholipase?

I’m glad that 60 interests you. I had a great time when I took it. It was easy yet fun. My class was filled with a lot of people passionate about the topics, and there was good participation. I took MCDB 60 (as well as LS3) with Dr. Pham, and he’s a great guy. We spent a good amount of time in the beginning discussing different schools of ethics, such as Utilitarianism and those of Kant, but we got into a little bit of science as well. It was one of my favorite classes, which depends greatly on how the material is taught, so it’ll vary between instructors.
