Anyone with A levels heard back yet??
what does “reviewed-decision pending” mean
NOPE… we remain waiting
My application also says “further review required”. Wondering if that is a good or bad thing
@lianbeckstead When did u apply to McGill and submit ur documents? Ps. I’m also an alevel student and my status is still ready for review.
I applied to McGill in late September. Side info on my standings: I am currently completing the IB program with a predicted 40 and a 4.21 GPA. Just worried because I haven’t heard anything from them yet besides the change in application status.
My daughter was accepted to Desautels last night! She applied early January, they sent her a notification last week for her first tri grades, she uploaded them last thursday I think.
US student, dual canadian/us citizen
Top 20 high school in the country
GPA unweighted 3.83 (school does not weigh)
ACT: 33
@taxlady4 Was your daughter born outside Canada? If so she may qualify for the in provine Quebec tuition rate.
Congratulations! I was wondering if you had to keep checking the Minerva site or did they send an email to you?
My S received “Further Review Requested” and uploaded a copy of his interim report card from his school website. Today, the checklist changed the note stating “official transcript” for Mid yr/second quarter grades. Did everyone here have school send official transcript of Mid yr/second quarter grades or what did you do for that? Thanks in advance.
@AGergian hey what’s up i’m also lebanese. Did you apply and if so, what major?
I was accepted last week into Software Engineering (Faculty of Engineering)
1540 SAT, 107 TOEFL, 17.5/20 (French bac) and got a one year scholarship, still waiting for the Major Entrance one.
Yes she was born in the US. My husband and I are Canadian so that’s how she has dual citizenship. My husband also went to McGill. From what I have researched we would pay domestic tuition but not ‘in province’ tuition.
My daughter’s said to upload unofficial transcript of first tri grades
She said she got an email saying there was a change to her application or something like that, then she had to login to minerva.
@ShrimpBurrito Could you provide more information to @Taxlady4 about the process for Quebec tuition rates?

@Taxlady4
Congrats on your daughter’s acceptance! My daughter is a happy U2 at McGill, dual citizen born in the US. We are charged Quebec tuition rates.
Has your D ever lived in Canada for more than three consecutive months? If not, she is considered a “Canadian born abroad” and is eligible for Quebec tuition. She must have a Canadian Certificate of Citizenship, though. A Canadian passport as well. (I can’t say for sure that a passport is mandatory, but I think it is. No reason to not get one if she may attend school in Canada, though.)
Carefully read the info here for Situation 8C:
https://www.mcgill.ca/legaldocuments/quebec/situation8
There are a couple of McGill parent groups on FB (I’m not sure if I can spell out f***book here) that have lots of detailed info on how to jump through the appropriate hoops. Join us and we’ll happily help.
My D got a 5k/year merit scholarship as well, so now that she’s living off campus, her tuition statements are about a $200 credit per semester.
McGill is a great place for independent, disciplined hard-workers.
Wow I have never heard of this. I believe we asked them also and they never mentioned anything. She does have her canadian citizenship card, but not a passport. I’ll take a look at the link and search for those groups also. She has never lived in Canada. Thanks so much for the information!
@Taxlady4 We initially paid regular Canadian citizen rates for the first semester, but McGill credited D’s account with the difference once we submitted the proper documents in late November. It’s a tight squeeze to get everything in before the last day of classes, but it is possible. Even if documentation is late, they will start charging the lower rate beginning the next semester.
@Taxlady4 It is a “loophole” in the residency requirement that McGill may not want to publicize for obvious reasons. They may hope that the info will pass through word of mouth (or in chat forums) or a close reading of the regulations.
