McGill BSc Math vs McGill BCom Math

I have received an offer from both BSc and the Desautels Faculty of Management. In my second year, I plan to major in mathematics, with a minor in finance or computer science. According to the website, a major in mathematics is available both under BSc and BCom, what is the difference between the 2 and which one has better employment opportunities? Not to mention, I would like to say that I am fairly weak in physics and chemistry, and that might affect my overall GPA if I decide to go with BSc

Doesn’t seem like a reason to go for the BSc.

And Desautels probably has better career services.

Desautels offers a major in mathematics which is rare for a business school. In Desautels the math major would be more applied math and statistics while in Science you would have the option of pure mathematics.

Also admission to the minor on finance if you are in Science is competitive with a minimum first year GPA of 3.7 to be considered.

What career goal do you have? Desautels has its own career center.

Well, Quantitative finance is something that really attracts me. I would like to major in math and probably leaning towards a minor in computer science. Also, if I major in Math under BCom, would it be safe to say that I am a stem student?

Yes, but there are no specific designations or benefits of being a STEM major.
