McGill Decisions Class of 2022 (Entering 2018)

did most people send their AP test scores/is it recommended we do?

@pd2424 Submit what you got on their initial application. If you decide to go there, then send the scores at that time and they’ll use them to determine advanced standing. After being admitted, it showed up on my checklist, so I’ll submit the score reports alongside my IB scores if I decide to attend.

What are the chances of getting off the waitlist? Do they waitlist anyone that didn’t get in initially, or is being waitlisted generally a good sign? I was accepted in Faculty of Arts, but waitlisted for Desautels.

the fact that so many people with 32 ACTs and 3.7+ gpas are being waitlisted/refused is so nerve wracking. the minimum must have went up a lot…

what @pd2424. Are you american, or are you dual citizen?

I didn’t read the entire thread.

@57special There is a McGill Parents Facebook page. You should join. There was a dad on there whose son was on the baseball team; he really was enjoying the experience. And congrats to your son on Desautels. That had been really tough to get into the last couple of years! My oldest son is a U0 (studying Economics in the Faculty of the Arts) and very happy at McGill.

@SwimmingDad I see a generic McGill parents Facebook group, and an international parent community. The international group is much larger. Do you recommend one over the other?

@ShrimpBurrito I belong to both. The International group gets more activity. It’s been an incredibly helpful. The parents really help each other out.

@missunitedkates it took me six weeks to hear back after i uploaded my mid year grades. i wouldn’t worry about it

@pd2424 I got accepted with a 31 ACT and 3.80 GPA to Desautels, so I’m thinking they mainly look at the rigor of the classes that make up the GPA… cause in my opinion my ACT score was probably my weakest point… I really hope you get accepted

accepted!!! its one of my top choice schools so I’m really happy
major: comp sci or bio engineering
ACT: 34
uw gpa: 3.64

@potatoviolin my daughter is american and wants bio engineering. She has been in the queue since September and still nothing.
Did you hear about scholarships? when did you apply? and how did you find out, email or continuing to look online?
thank you for the hope - she is ACT 34 SAT 1570 and 4.0 unweighted 5.7 weighted

Wow the process of admission has a very very unusual pattern. Kinda makes anxiety levels rise lol…

@verrsoltes Unfortunately you need to be check Minerva regularly. Decisions shows there first (at least it did last year). My son last year didn’t want that day to day stress so he actually had me doing the logging in. Not right for all families and situations but was a good way for us to handle it. Good luck.

Hi, does anyone know when Canadians find out about scholarships?? She’s already been admitted. She is dual citizen actually. She has high stats…Thanks.

@jupeter24 i’m dual citizen

@jayssom thank you! i’m praying… i have a 32 ACT but a 3.71 gpa (4.3 weighted). I’ve taken all honors and ap classes in hs but i was already waitlisted for science so i don’t have a good feeling about desautels

Hi, I’m from the US and I got my decision last Friday! I was waitlisted at Desautels and admitted to Arts and Sciences. I have a 1520 SAT (740 V 780 M) and a 3.65 unweighted GPA (low, I know, but all honors/AP classes).

@verrsoltes I applied in December and heard back in January I think. I didn’t apply for any scholarships (oops) but I received an email from McGill saying “A decision on your application to the program handled by Enrolment Services of McGill University has now been made.” Good luck to your daughter! hope she gets in

@yikescolle9e , you never know. It’s still early. Plus, waitlisted is good, it’s not like they denied you.
